2010 Innovation Award

The recently adopted Portsmouth VA Zoning Ordinance drafted by Clarion received an Innovation Award from VAPA at its 2010 state conference. In identifying the code’s noteworthy features, VAPA highlighted the code’s emphasis on building form over use; its facilitation of re-development consistent with the community’s desired form; its approaches to addressing nonconformities in a built context; its focus on sustainability through incentives; and its user-friendly lay-out.
