2010 South Carolina Outstanding Planning Project | Large Jurisdiction

Clarion, in partnership with ACP Visioning+Planning, led a team to update the Comprehensive Plan for Charleston County, South Carolina that was awarded the 2010 South Carolina Outstanding Planning Project for a Large Jurisdiction. The update is the result of a 14-month process that involved extensive public participation and coordination with adjacent jurisdictions. The plan’s noteworthy components include strategies and implementation tools to preserve rural areas, linkage of fiscal policies to land use and transportation planning, formalized inter-jurisdictional coordination, and promotion of sustainable development.
