2012 Metropolitan Pima Alliance Common Ground Award for Public Policy
In November 2012, the City of Tucson’s Land Use Code (LUC) Simplification Project was awarded the Common Ground award for Public Policy by Metropolitan Pima Alliance. The LUC Simplification Project, completed with assistance from Clarion Associates, consolidates the requirements of the LUC, most of Chapter 23A Development Compliance Code, and the Development Standards into one new Unified Development Code (UDC) that minimizes redundancy and organizes the code into a more logical, simple, and user-friendly format. The city’s intent is to use the adoption of the reorganized UDC as a springboard to consider broader substantive changes to the code. The city is currently working with Clarion Associates on the first of those sets of substantive changes as part of its Sustainable Land Use Code Integration Project.
