Keystone Colorado Water and Growth Dialogue
In late 2015, Clarion Associates was retained by the Keystone Policy Center to prepare a background paper on land use and water conservation. The paper reviewed existing research on how regulation of land use development patterns before initial occupancy of new development can affect long-term water conservation, and what programs local governments have adopted to try to influence water conservation through land use regulations. The information was and will be used by the Keystone Policy and its partners in the Colorado Water and Growth Dialogue to model alternative land use pattern futures for Colorado’s Front Range communities and the water conservation impacts of alternative development patterns.
